Laluzapalooza 2014, La Luz de Jesus’s Annual Group Show

March 5, 2014 by Megan Koester in Upcoming Events with 0 Comments

It’s that time of year again, and hard to believe that this is the 28th consecutive year of the La Luz de Jesus Gallery annual group show! Laluzapalooza is the grandaddy of all group shows in the post-pop art world. An opening reception for the exhibition, which runs through March 30th, will take place from 8 to 11PM on Friday, March 7th.

Gallery director Matt Kennedy and owner Billy Shire viewed more submissions than ever before and narrowed it down to the fewest accepted pieces since their Melrose days-when the group show was labeled Uncommercial Art by Commercial Artists. There are less than 130 total pieces this year. In years past, that didn’t even account for the number of artists included. There are a lot of new people, many of whom are making their La Luz de Jesus debut. There’s some museum exhibited talent, and household names the gallery hasn’t shown in a decade or more.
